Do YOU want to increase your sales by 400%?

Two of our incredible Rock Stars – Bryan and Nathan of Flightline Fabrications have been taking our exclusive Rock Star blogging training class and have created an amazing blog. While most people think that a blog isn’t important in their business, or is a way to talk about themselves, or is perhaps something to write in once in a while, Bryan and Nathan have already grasped the true power of this amazing online marketing tool for their business.

Most of you have heard me tell the “You can’t sell Tiffany diamonds in a Walmart’ story where it’s not about the money you are asking, it is about the experience you are offering. And Flightline Fabrications has done just that with their blog. Here are some key points:

· They have brought in consistency of branding from their website and their eBay store into their blog

· They sell mainly military plane stickers in their business – and that is what they write about on their blog…NOT about the stickers, but about the experience surrounding their product - planes, and military, and history, and book reviews.

· They have created a Living History Project where they interview key figures from the WWII time period and allow you to see and hear these incredible people.

· They link to some products that are not theirs but that they believe would interest their reader

· And then once in awhile they mention a sticker from their eBay Store.

The first person Bryan and Nathan chose to interview for their Living History Project experience is Alter Wiener – a WWII Holocaust survivor. I remember talking to Bryan right after he returned from the interview and he was in awe and blown away by the experience…now he is sharing it with you on his blog. It is by far the most moving thing I have listened to in quite a while – you don’t want it to end (and I have already begged Bryan to get Part 2 up – lol). Alter was asked, and made to promise, to write a book about his experiences…and he titled it, “From a name to a number”…I can’t wait for mine to arrive. You can get your copy at any major bookstore, but Flightline Fabrications will get you an autographed copy personally from Alter. WOW, if my Dad wasn’t an angel now, I would be getting him a copy for Father’s Day.

Now…does writing a blog, videotaping an interview, and running back and forth to a different city to get books autographed make Flightline Fabrications money? Not on the surface it doesn’t. But they are creating an experience where their qualified readers are going to want to purchase what they are selling after reading/viewing the experience. While at Disneyland you just HAVE to have the hat with the Goofy ears on it…are you really ever going to wear that hat again? No, but during the experience you want to be a part of it. When you attend a seminar with a speaker that blew you away, what are they selling in the back of the room after that experience? Their products. You want to continue the experience…you want to be a part of it. When you read a review of the latest gadget on Popgadget, why do you think there is usually a link there that takes you to buy whatever they were just gushing about? You have just shared in someone else’s experience and now want to experience it yourself.

Many of our Rock Stars are now creating powerful ‘experience’ blogs that are paying off nicely in their profits just like Bryan and Nathan. We just heard from Janieruth about an item she put up on eBay and got $100 more for it than another one in worse condition that had just sold. Her secret? She utilized her blog to create an experience around it.

Mary wrote a blog post about her experience of reading a book. She received an email from the authors thanking her and asking if she would like to give away a copy of their book! Now she has 100’s of hits on her brand new blog and is promoting her eBay business!

I just did a sporadic check of some of YOUR domains – and you definitely need to read this! There are still quite a few of you who either don’t have outside domains or haven’t purchased your misspellings. If you don’t, then your competitor will. I learned the hard way…when I purchased www.JanelleElms.com I didn’t even think about the other URL’s I should own – like www.Janellelms.com (without the ‘e’). Why would I think about it – Janelle Elms is unique. Well a company out of California who specializes in ‘cybersquatting’ immediately saw the potential of a redirect off of this popular search name. Dang. I don’t even want to think about how much business I have lost out on by not knowing about buying additional domains at that time. Under the Anti-Cybersquatting Consumer Protection Act of 1999, US victims can sue in federal court for both the domain name and monetary damages. However…the cost to fight it usually far outweighs the return. It costs $1200 JUST to file for domain name arbitration – not to mention the lawyer fees. It would be cheap insurance to just pay $6.95 a year to protect your valuable business investment, don’t you think? Microsoft just went after some of their cybersquatters and have so far recovered over $1.1 million in illegal redirects from over 2000 infringing websites – eeks! EVEN if you don’t do anything with it, at least buy it now so someone else can’t.
