Ok, I apologize already…yes, as many of you have commented…I was on Griff’s radio show yesterday and didn’t tell any of you ahead of time.  I was on talking about eBay Live and the classes I am teaching (various classes for eBay Stores and Turbo Lister).  I am sorry for not telling you in advance, but you can always listen to the archives at www.wsradio.com .  Plus Griff and I end up just chatting away since we don’t get to see each other as often anymore on tour.  For those of you who missed it though, Griff did hint at wearing a nude colored unitard this year – if you have been to Live previously you will understand his sense of humor for ‘interesting’ attire!  I can’t wait for eBay Live this year – SO much fun to see many fabulous eBay friends again as well as finally meet many new ones!  Remember early registration is only until the middle of next week – get your application in at www.ebay.com/ebaylive

Our Rock Stars Rock

• This is how amazing the Rock Stars are…

A little over a year ago when the idea of OSI Rock Stars was coming into full view in my head and heart, I went to Marjie of the DOUA (Disable Online Users Association) and asked her opinions on doing different things on the site…how we could make the site better so her amazing DOUA members could participate.  She provided me with tons of great feedback which helped design the site.  However, the one thing that we weren’t able to do was a transcription service of the classes.  I would love to, but at a cost of approx $100 for each class (times over 120 classes) we would have to raise the membership fees astronomically in order to cover that one feature.  Both Marjie and I have continued to be on a lookout for a solution.

OSI Rock Stars recently had another member of the DOUA join our Success site.  We welcomed Brenda and her infectious enthusiasm for life and Success.  In getting to know her, she mentioned that she was deaf (you can read more about that on her great blog at http://growingupdeaf.blogspot.com/ ).  Brenda was excited to participate in the very active forums with the other Rock Stars, but wasn’t going to be able to hear any of the over 140 hours of podcasts or webinars on the site.  The other concerned Rock Stars wrote me in droves asking for a solution to assist Brenda in achieving Success.  And then I received an email from Jennifer of Precision Bluing Plus who offered to individually transcribe the classes for Brenda and then have us post them on the site so that other DOUA members would be able to access them as well.  I LOVE that we have so many Rock Stars that are passionate, kind, considerate and take care of each other so dramatically while they are on their adventure of realizing their own dreams.  How many successful entrepreneurs do you know who understand that we have all been given unique gifts that will allow us to prosper, but that the true use of those gifts is to help others as well?  I know hundreds of them – they are on OSI Rock Stars.  How honored I am to know such amazing human beings.  Thanks Brenda and Jennifer (& everyone who has been helping her on the boards and behind the scenes) – you guys ROCK!

Another brilliant eBay Stores Newsletter

Melissa of the eBay Store Infant Traveler puts out a brilliant newsletter (another great example of people ‘getting it done’…Melissa is a PowerSeller, eBay education Specialist, Trading Assistant AND homeschools her kids!).  Plus you can hear her live on the show tomorrow!  Here is an excerpt from her latest newsletter:

Being fashionably late may be glamorous, however, being on time is a lot less stressful! 

Consistently being on Time is a Challenge most face.  Adding kids to the mix seems to raise the bar on this worthy goal.  After a lot of being almost on time and downright late, I decided to compile some of the tips which have helped me.

Being on time is important for children.  It teaches them respect for other people’s time, discipline and helps to avoid disappointment.  A local karate teacher requires ten push ups per late child.  One day a honest parent stepped up and did the push ups for her child because she was the reason for the tardiness.  Team photos are usually taken only once, so if your child is late, they are not included.  I hope you find these helpful or at least entertaining!

Ten Tips for Being on Time with Kids

Do It Ahead of Time.  Nike’s mantra of “Do it Now” is great, however, for a parent “Do It the Night Before” is better.  I have a friend who is rarely late.  She sets the table the night before and even pours the cereal in the bowls!  This way, in the morning all she has to do is pour milk and pass out pre-chopped fruit and Voila, nutritious breakfast in a hurry.

Be Realistic.  Time yourself when you are not on your way to an important event.  This way you can determine exactly how long it takes to get yourself and your children dressed, fed and loaded into the car.  If things go perfectly, add at least fifteen minutes to allow for those unexpected, but frequent delays.  If you do not need the extra fifteen minutes, leave the house anyway, and use the extra time to breathe before you hit the ground running!

Have Backups.  Having two diaper bags or snack bags may seem a little excessive, but it helps keep you on schedule.  Cleaning and restocking these items is a good plan, however, when you have back to back activities, this can save you from those dreaded, “sorry I’m late…” apologies.  With two bags, you can just trade your used bag for your fully stocked one and be out the door with no worries of forgotten items like diapers!

Tips 4-10 were just as fabulous and more importantly Melissa’s readers found value in them.  It wasn’t just one more newsletter pitching products.  It had truly useful (and humorous) information that was pertinent to the reader.
