Use The Yellow Button
I know that ALL of you know by now to NOT respond to any email from eBay or PayPal that arrives in your inbox - right?
But, we all get email sent to us from eBay community members, via eBay’s email system, that we know, or already have a relationship with. However, many people don’t realize that you may not be able to respond to this communication in your typical ‘email’ fashion. If you hit ‘reply’ instead of the yellow ‘respond’ button from the eBay email, and it says UseTheYellowButton@ebay.com in the ‘to’ field of your email client it means:
- The person has requested that their email not be given out in communications with other members
- And that they won’t get the message (just goes into a black cyber hole somewhere) that you send to them.
If it says, UseTheYellowButton@ebay.com, then you’ll need to hit the Yellow Respond button in the email from eBay to reply to them. I would prefer actually, that eBay remove the Yellow Respond button since this easily gives phishers and spoofers easy access to your log-in/password information. Instead of responding to any email that arrives in your inbox from eBay, please delete it immediately and then log-in to your My Messages in your My eBay section. If the email was really sent from eBay or another community member, the duplicate email will also be in your password protected account and you can respond safely from there.
