Viral Marketing with Squidoo

There is nothing more amazing, I think, in the business world than Viral Marketing.  The sheer success of the Blair Witch Project from almost a decade ago, came almost entirely from its ground-breaking Viral Marketing campaigns.

Viral Marketing’s definition is pretty simple – A marketing phenomenon that facilitates and encourages people to pass along a marketing message. 

But how do you get that to happen?  How do you create something that people want to share – basically becoming hundreds if not thousands of emailed salespeople for your business that you don’t have to pay?  Well, you could scream and cry for people to leave Britney alone – that will definitely get passed around.  You can write something controversial – that always gets people riled up to share (although not always in the way you want).  You can create one of those annoying ‘read/do this and then scroll to the bottom and pass it on to 5 friends or you will have bad things happen to you’ email – lol.  But in business, the easiest ways to create Viral Marketing is:

• To provide valuable information that will solve a problem
• And if you can do it with a sense of humor even better!

I was perusing different people’s blogs, Squidoo pages and other marketing ideas and happened upon a Squidoo page made by one of our recent OSI RS show guests – Mike Rozell.

His Squidoo page (appears like it’s his first one too) was SO funny I couldn’t stop laughing.  I know from talking to my Real Estate friends that Mike’s lens topic is an issue that bugs many of them, yet he took the frustration out of it and made it hilarious…and he put it into terms that almost everyone can now relate too, not just real estate agents. 

And now I am about to do what I am sure one of his original intentions was – pass it along for others to read. 

Don’t cheat on your Realtor with me when buying a home

I like how he also asks for your advice with his lens at the bottom – you know that many of our brilliant Squidooers like Genius Giant Squid Stephanie is going to take that offer and run with it.  Brilliant on Mike’s part – now he has the best of the best also helping him make his marketing even better!  Heck, he could down the line even be up for Lens of the Day with the right networking.
