eBay updates the feedback policy

PowerSellers – eBay Fee and Site Change Benefits

As we have been teaching on Rock Stars during the 9+ hours of the eBay Fee and Site Change training, PowerSellers will receive numerous benefits from these changes.  These benefits include:

·       25% exposure increase in eBay core search with Best Match

·       Expanded Seller protection – no more shipping to confirmed addresses

·       Seller Dashboard – keep track of DSR’s, discounts and other vital information used in tracking your business

·       5-15% discount on your Final Value Fees – this is already happening and will show up on your invoice in April

PayPal Expanded Seller Protection

·         No more confirmed addresses. Your customers can choose any shipping address, which makes checkout easier.

·         No more coverage limit. The coverage limit under the Seller Protection Policy is $5,000 per year. Expanded seller protection has no annual limit.

·         Coverage in more places around the world. Coverage is now extended to 190 countries, so you can ship to buyers wherever they are.

If you are an eBay PowerSeller in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, and France you must enroll in the program to receive your benefits.  You can do so at this link: https://www.paypal.com/expandedsellerprotection  Make sure you read the FAQ’s for details.

NOTE (this is good for ESP’s to know too):  If you are not a PowerSeller, or lose your status and then gain it again, you need to enroll in the program each time to be eligible for these benefits.  If any of your ‘new kids’ reaches PowerSeller status, besides a congrats email, make sure they are aware of the benefits of the expanded seller protection program and where to sign up.

Seller Dashboard

Log-into your My eBay and you will see a link to your Seller’s Dashboard.  I poked around the site and found mine – it isn’t live yet, that is why you don’t see the calculations – but this is the basic layout you will see until May:

Updated Feedback information just released

In January we committed to a plan that will restore the original intent of the Feedback system — to facilitate trust between buyers and sellers. Since announcing our plans, effective in May, it has become clear through conversations with many of you that eBay needs to do even more to protect sellers from dishonest buyers who use the Feedback system as a weapon. To make it perfectly clear, let me say that there is no place on eBay for anyone who abuses our community, flouts our marketplace policies and willfully harms other members.

As a result of our conversations with many of you, we are adding two Feedback policy changes to be rolled out in May to better protect sellers from this kind of behavior. First, while threatening to use negative Feedback to force an unfair deal is both extremely rare and grounds for permanent buyer suspension, we recognize it has happened in the past and will be tried in the future. If you experience this sort of behavior, please report this to eBay by using Contact Us from this page.

When we identify a pattern of abuse, or the evidence is clear from your report, we will remove the negative or neutral feedback — retroactively. But, we can’t identify those patterns without your help and reporting. This is a call to action for every seller.

(This first feedback update is in addition to us as sellers utilizing the UPI forms correctly as well to help eBay identify these types of buyers).

Second, we have listened to your thoughts on Unpaid Item (UPI) reports and our decision to remove negative or neutral Feedback from a buyer who fails to respond to a UPI. And what has become clear from our conversations is that we need to build in more flexibility for what happens when a buyer responds to a UPI report. What we have determined is that if the buyer does not specifically call out poor seller performance, item condition or transaction problems during the UPI process, eBay will remove the seller’s negative or neutral feedback — retroactively.
