eBay Fee Change – I am very worried

Wow – we just completed the almost 3 hours of training on the new eBay Fee & Site Changes.  LOTS of information, but a great opportunity to update their businesses for many of our sellers with new listing types, description information, and holiday messaging!

I have to tell you honestly that I am very worried.  You guys are SO in the know, that of course you realize that eBay just made a huge announcement.  But there are SO many sellers out there that have no idea that eBay is changing some major areas of the site.  I was just talking to a friend of mine who sells cars on eBay.  He didn’t know that they had made MAJOR fee changes to his category, much less that there had been any changes at all.  Like did you know…

·        There are certain words that you are currently using in your listings that could get your listings stopped by eBay – you certainly don’t want that happening during holiday season.

·        There is a way to DOUBLE your PowerSeller discounts (up to 40% off your FVF)?

·        There are now required boxes that have to be marked/filled out if you are listing on eBay?

·        There is now a category where you can list for 5 cents and a category where you can list for free?

Oh, there’s a bunch more surprises, but again – I am worried that people feel that they can just let these changes happen behind the scenes and not do any adjustments to their businesses.  Not this time.  This time if you don’t make the required changes you could potentially have your ability to list stopped – eeks!

Statistics:

·        31 and 23 – hours and minutes I spent on eBay webinars, the town hall, discussion boards, websites, on the phone with eBay employees getting this class ready so you wouldn’t have to do that

·        3 – number of keyboards I went through writing up the Presentation – no joke

·        34 – pages of notes I took in order to write up that presentation

·        16 – number of cans of Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper that were consumed

·        4 (at least) – the number of hours I spent bugging Cindy & Dany with questions

·        12 – total number of hours of sleep while doing this (I got a whopping 3 on Sunday night – woohoo!)
