eBay Fee Change announcement

As I am sure you have already heard…big announcements again today (well, actually last night) from eBay. One of the benefits our long-time readers have always had is an early ‘heads up’ on where things in this marketplace are heading. We have been talking for quite a while now about moving into a professional arena and how to run a profitable business on eBay, how fast-growing fixed priced listings have been for the past 2 years and how to move your inventory into that format, and even our recent class on selling on other sales channels with Amazon (www.SuccessWithCindy.com/amazon) will allow many of you to easily grow your business. It became crystal clear today (after attending both of the webinars today, spending hours reading the boards, and having extensive conversations with my eBay insiders) that eBay is now finally growing up. Not to mention that eBay has seen the incredible success levels that Amazon is having with fixed priced, one-click checkout listings on their site – we will no doubt continue to see the selling model on eBay move towards that.

These changes will cause people to take their businesses to a professional level that we have not seen required before – yeah!! The buyers will love that – which is why all of this is important.

I continue to struggle with understanding how two people/businesses can be given the same opportunity – one will fail and the other succeeds wildly. Why? I’ve written in previous columns about some of the reasons why I believe that may be the case – fear being the big one. Fear of failure, fear of success, fear of change, fear of the unknown, etc. What makes one person choose fear and one person choose Success? The Successful entrepreneurs we have interviewed on the OSI show all have one thing in common – no fear…many even mention that specifically. Is this something you are born with? Learn? Acquire? Is it a skill or a natural part of your personality? I have thoroughly enjoyed and have been delighted watching our Rock Stars Choose Success since opening up the site for membership last October. With curiosity, I continue to try to pinpoint why they are so wildly successful with their businesses (besides the obvious facts that they have such extensive access to SO much information that can help their business at OSI Rock Stars).

I had a very concerned email asking me about why my costs were so high compared to other internet sites and Ebay sellers that had the same item. Again, thanks to the awesome Rock stars stories and experience on these matters, I explained to the customer about the packaging, (we use proper materials so the stuff doesn’t get squashed), I’m in Canada, so I calculate my costs accordingly. And yes, I do have shipping for multiple items.
Long story short…she bought every one of the items I had. And she’s asking if I can possibly get more.
