eBay Announcements

Yep, profits increased for Q2…for details you can read the press release here - http://www.internetnews.com/ec-news/article.php/3759451/eBay+Q2+Profits+Up+22+Percent.htm .  But the thing I found most interesting was that, once again, the % of successful fixed priced listings went up.  Buyer demand is changing.  In the last year alone, fixed priced listings (that successfully ended) went up by 10% - that’s some big jumps over traditional auction styles.  Could this be where the increased numbers for Amazon are coming from?  Etsy?  Other fixed priced venues?  I am already working on adding more Amazon and Etsy How To classes to the OSI Rock Star site because of these new numbers.

Response to Saturday’s Newsletter about “If not now, when will you Choose Success”

What a wonderful and overwhelming response to the ‘If not now, when’ newsletter over the weekend.  (In case you missed it, you can read the archive here: http://osirockstars.com/?p=588).   I love how you are choosing Success and creating your path of wealth.  Most importantly, I am very impressed how you are creating your own reality and not accepting anyone else’s. 

As many of you know the Pastor of my Church is also an entrepreneurial coach, so each Sunday I always feel like I get two messages for the price of one!  And interestingly enough, Pastor/Coach Mike was talking about exactly this same topic the day after the newsletter came out.  He spoke of ‘Sheeple People’ who allow somebody else’s definition of them to become a reality and sidetrack them from being who they are supposed to be.  He talked about how you will never be fulfilled or know who you are (much less what you can do) if you accept what others say you are.  He went on to provide 3 steps that would help you focus on who YOU really are:

1.  Purpose defeats wickedness and plans laid against you.  If you have chosen to be a ‘sheeple people’ and are blindly follow the voice of someone else, then you/your business can just as easily be swayed by others since you are not thinking/deciding from your own heart.  For those of you who know me I call this the ‘post-it’ note idea.  That your friends, family, church, school, advertising, etc have all attached to you post-it notes of how they view you or want you to be.  Until you remove those post-it notes and think purely from your head and heart, your answers/decisions will never be 100% yours.

2.  Focus on the author (who are you) – big picture thinking will always give you endurance.  I am currently re-reading ‘Think and Grow Rich’ by Napoleon Hill who speaks of this same idea.  If you are not passionate about what you want, if you can’t see the full picture of your vision, if you are SO caught up in the daily inertia/to do lists – then your dream will never become a reality.  I love this ‘6-steps to accomplishing your goal’ page.

3.  Hold to God’s definition of who you are – this is kind of a big one since God thinks we rock, but we can never quite grasp just how fabulous he thinks we are.  I struggle with this one a lot…but I do try to keep focused on what my purpose on earth is and how that is unique to everyone else’s purpose.  Doesn’t make mine better or worse – just unique.  And…just because my competition’s grass looks greener sometimes, does NOT mean that I veer off of my well laid plans to ‘try’ what they are doing – lol.  Staying true to myself is crucial to my success.

 eBay Stores issue – not all seller’s affected

I just posted this on the Rock Star discussion boards – wanted to share with all of you:

As some of you know, the listing frame in ’some’ eBay Store owners listings is missing components (like the header and/or left hand navigation bar). I spoke to eBay who said the following:

There is a system error that is causing some eBay Store set-ups to change from ’show my listing frame’ to ‘not show’. This is causing further confusion since in some eBay Stores this error has completely removed the header and the left hand nav bar, whereas with some eBay Stores the header and/or left hand nag is still visible even though in the Store Dashboard it is set to ‘not show’. eBay said that they are trying to find the error in their massive code and are further frustrated since it is not effecting all Stores. (boy, can I understand that - even with our site things ‘pop out’ of the code without any reason and we end up being a full-time code detective - can’t imagine doing that with eBay’s gigantic code.) Upon further questioning if eBay is doing any ‘buyer experience’ testing behind the scenes that is causing this to happen, the person I spoke with said that she sees no reason for that to be true. She said that eBay has done extensive testing and found that the Listing Frame is very successful for eBay Store owners in keeping the buyers on the site longer and buying more (which is what eBay wants too). She further stated that since they had already spent quite a bit of time/money testing the listing frame (and with such positive results), she could see no reason at all for them to do further testing. The information she received is that it is a system error. And to speak to that, when I went into my eBay Store to change from ‘no show’ to ’show’ to see if that would fix anything, I received the traditional yellow ‘page not responding’ that is typical when there is a system error.

Hi,

Boy – have I missed you.  And sorry to have been away the past week, but I have been doing a lot of thinking about you and your Success and why some people are on that path and others aren’t even close.  (and more importantly what I can do to help you get back on the path to Success if you have been sidetracked).  I have driven all of my mentors crazy this past week with this question, ‘how can two people be given equal opportunities – yet one chooses Success and the other (sometimes by lack of choosing) chooses failure?”  For those of you who know me, you realize that your Success is something I am very passionate about…but I also realize that as much as I want you to be Successful, it is truly your choice, not mine – I can only work hard in creating the most powerful and profitable information to get you to where you want to go.  And that’s hard to accept when I see SO much potential and opportunity surrounding you.  I listened to people who attended eBay Live very carefully and was amazed at how many of them were allowing ‘other people’s reality’ to become their own.  You now have the opportunity for the next 72 hours to change your reality…let me explain…

 

I attend a business motivational ‘lifegroup’ through my Church.  Similar to a business book club.  Currently we are reading (re-reading) “How to Win Friends and Influence People.”  Great book.  But this week we decided to skip the typical conversation and talk about our businesses (most of us are also entrepreneurs).   And a couple things we talked (& prayed about) really have stuck with me since then:

• If you aren’t getting what you want – you have something(s) blocking your path…and the first place to check on what is blocking you is from within your own heart and mind.  Yep, we can do an incredible amount of damage to our own Success without much effort.  The next place to check is those surrounding you – are they defeating you or raising you up?  This includes not only family and friends, but even the newsletters you choose to read, the discussion boards you interact with and the websites you go to.  (It also includes newspapers, tv, radio etc.)
• Just because someone else chooses a certain ‘reality’ of how their world looks like (ie, recession, bad customers, mad at eBay) does not mean that you have to choose that same reality.  You get to choose anything you want.  It’s your world…your dream…your life to live.  You have been given free will to make it anything you want.  No one should be able to divert that belief inside of you.  You should give no one that kind of power over your life.

 

So we could have a lot of not-positive reality around us or we could choose to have a very Success-minded lifestyle that includes support and encouragement and positive reinforcements.  This choice of a lifestyle came up recently when I was talking to my friend and trusted advisor “C” who commented that she has clients who are in the real estate field – some are succeeding amazingly well and others are failing horrendously.  I asked her what she thought was the defining difference between these two groups.  She stated that it was how they viewed and adapted to their world and the opportunities they were able to see (or not see) because of it.  She went on to explain that the ones that weren’t succeeding had bought into the panic and fear of the economy and believed that to be their truth…whereas the success-minded group had seen amazing opportunity and had created new ideas for their business and were able to prosper.  Being ever so inquisitive, especially this week, I continued with my questions…So if someone is in that panic/fear mode, how do we help them get out of it?  “C”, being ever so wise said quite simply…’telling them not to panic Janelle won’t work, you need them to cover their panic’.  She advised if you needed to get a part-time job to ‘cover the panic’ in order for your dreams to happen, then go do it.    I asked if people had panic or fear over money, then why in the world were the ‘get rich overnight’ guys still in business and doing amazingly well.  She concluded that during a time of fear it’s even easier to buy into a well-written sales letter or email that seemingly provides that calm to the fear (albeit temporarily).  That is until the credit card bill for $97 or $197 or $2000 comes and they realize that not only hasn’t the product made them any money, but they are in the hole even further and the panic/fear cycle repeats.

 

If not now, when are you going to choose a success reality?  When you can afford it?  Both of us know that isn’t a true statement.  At least tell me it will be when your priorities change and buying into your reality becomes WAY more important than buying into other people’s realities.  You know someone said to me recently that he hoped to one day afford the luxury of joining OSI Rock Stars.  Since when did ‘get rich overnight’ ideas become a necessity and a tried and true method of Success that had produced amazing profits for our members be a luxury?  Sorry, but that is one screwed up reality.  How much of a guarantee do you need to realize that YOU can be successful?
